Sonic Scramjet
The two aircar design groups - RaceTech and Overdrive Technology - have had a long rivalry in the field of aircar racing, and when Rocket Dogs races were announced, the rivalry continued. Each firm submitted a first design…and then heard that the other had also submitted a design with similar capabilities. Each firm then pulled out the stops and made another rocket, hoping to outdo the other …and again, learned that they had merely maintained the tie.
In one last burst of pride and ego, each group designed a final entrant. For RaceTech, this was the Sonic Scramjet. Marrying everything they had learned about aircar racing over centuries of competition, with cutting edge rocket technology licensed from Advanced Exploration Technology Group, the Sonic Scramjet is a bleeding edge design. It marries form with function: the compressor inlet takes air - whether on Quantum Prime or on any of the moons - slows and compresses it via shockwaves and mixes it with fuel. Physics does the rest - there’s no need for an ignition source when the ultra-compressed air is well above the ignition temperature of the fuel. The result is a standing explosion … and that’s before more fuel is dumped in at the rear of the engine, powering a roaring screaming afterburner.
The Sonic Scramjet is the absolute pinnacle of what the best Toba aircar engineers can achieve - and it shows.
