Portable Hole

The Portable Hole is one of the best inventions that the brother and sister team of Gilk and Tolona ever came up with. Tolona came up with the idea of a small hole that could, somehow, be peeled up off the ground, folded flat, and tucked into a backpack or external pocket on a space suit, but it was Toba engineering genius Gilk who invented the technology to make it possible.

The Portable Hole can be deployed nearly instantly by a Rocket Dog, even mid race - the spring-loaded and electrostatically charged circumference ensures that it fully opens no matter what the environment or situation. Once deployed, the Portable Hole will suck in the unwary competitor, frustrating his plans. One note: Gilk still hasn’t perfected his ideal - the “one hour, any-direction hole”. The current model has two limitations. First, once a Rocket Dog falls into one, the hole last just a few seconds before dissipating. And second, something about how the technology behind the hole works (Tolona doesn’t understand what Gilk is talking about when he goes on about “frame dragging”) means that the hole can only be deployed behind a Rocket Dog - so pay attention to rivals catching up on you and use a Portable Hole when the time is right.
