Vizsla

The two thin and wiry Vizslas that were brought back to Quantum Prime from Earth ended up being boarded next to the German Shepherds in the Rocket Dog training facilities, and the four dogs soon became best friends. The German Shepherds showed their Vizsla friends how the two of them had pick-pocketed Plasma Nets from the Golden Retrievers that they were racing against, and the Vizslas thought it was a great trick, and tried it themselves…without success. Even with careful tutoring by their Shepherd buddies and lots of after-hours practice, they wouldn’t manage to replicate it. It seemed to them that every Rocket Dog needs a special trick or an angle to do well in a race, and the two Vizslas were starting to get upset that they apparently had no special abilities.

Around that time the Toba trainer Romo saw her two Shiba Inus playing tug of war with the utility bag that she stored her papers and tablet in, and yelled “Drop it!”, at which point the two Shibas did.

…but the Vizslas noticed that around the Rocket Dog training facility several other dogs also dropped the toys they were playing with … which gave them an idea. With a Vizsla’s vocal cords, well developed for braying and articulating during a hunt, would it be possible for the two of them to practice making a sound that sounded like “Drop it!”? As it turns out, it was.

…which sets the stage for all manner of hijinks during a Rocket Dogs race…
