Mastiff
The Mastiff is one of the largest breeds of dogs, and the line dates back at least to ancient Rome, where they were used to help guard homes and herds.
Because the Mastiff is so large, equipment must be scaled up to fit it - every rocket, space suit, collar, and more must be adjustable to provide extra thrust, extra covering, or extra material. Kainsha and Gogali, the two Toba who lead the Rocket Dogs Project, have made it clear to all of the engineers working on Rocket Dogs equipment that that the enhanced equipment must be carefully balanced to just compensate for the larger size, without providing any extra benefit.
The Toba Mastiff trainers found a loophole in the rules, though: while the number of pouches on a Mastiff’s equipment belt can’t be increased, the pouches themselves are much larger than those on the belts of smaller dogs…and the larger rockets that the Mastiffs wear likewise have larger fuel tanks. With these deep pockets and extra fuel reserves, can a large Mastiff out-race a smaller dog? Obviously racing skill is still going to decide the issue, but the deeper pockets certainly won’t hurt!
